Gaida

Levantine Indulgence

Syrian songstress, known for her velvety yet crystalline voice. Gaida evokes the emotional storminess of legendary Arab singers but is recognized for her remarkable ability to masterfully improvise and expand on the traditional Arabic maqam. Her work can be heard in Jonathan Demme's documentary “Jimmy Carter: Man from Plains," and feature film, “Rachel Getting Married”, and in Anne Hathaway’s play, “Grounded.”  Funoon is proud to work with Gaida on remixing songs from her début album Levantine Indigence.
